We’re kicking off Pride Month 2024 with a celebration of Zines, DIY, Punk, and Queer AF culture! Join us for the first ever Magik Press Zine Party! at the New Haven Pride Center. A day of zines, music, culture, and camaraderie for all ages.

The Pride Center Basement Clean-Up Was A HUGE Success!

Magik Press practices sustainability and reciprocity in all aspects of our work. As a big THANK YOU to the Pride Center for hosting ZINE PARTY!, we cleaned out their basement and helped organize their Free Closet before the event on June 1!

MUCH LOVE to all the folks who donated, and the volunteers and collaborators who came out to help and flyer around the neighborhood!! We got the entire basement cleaned and ready for Zine Party!

Missed the clean-up but still want to help? The Pride Center is accepting donations for the following items for their
Free Closet:

  • clothes hangers

  • rolling, portable clothes racks

  • large plastic storage bins with lids

  • direct donation

We’ll be installing art on May 30th and May31st at the Pride Center for anyone who wants to drop off donations before the event. See y’all at ZINE PARTY on June 1!

COVID SAFER PRACTICE AT ZINE PARTY!

We want to acknowledge that COVID is not over, that it is a mass disabling event, and folks are still dying from COVID. With that understanding we are making every effort to mitigate harm to our community. We take Care of Us.

COVID Safety Protocols:

🌼 MASKS ARE MANDATORY!
We believe that Liberation must include ALL OF US. This means we protect our immunocompromised comrades and ourselves by wearing masks. PPE will be provided, but we encourage you to bring your own.

🌼 AIR FILTRATION:
The Pride Center will have air filters running to create another layer of protection against air borne viruses and bacteria.

🌼 AIR CIRCULATION:
Weather permitting, doors will be open to allow for air circulation. Outdoor spaces available for eating and drinking. We recommend that folks stay masked even outdoors particularly in close contact with others.

🌼 TEST IF YOU CAN!
If possible test for COVID 12-24 hours before coming to the event. More than 20% of COVID cases are asymptomatic.

🌼🌈 If you know where we can source tests for our event please contact one of the event organizers, thank you.

🌼 PLEASE STAY HOME IF YOU FEEL SICK.
Zine Party will not be the last event that Magik Press organizes. While we want as many people as possible to attend, it’s more important that the health of our fellow zine community is protected.
