Iris Afantchao is an archivist and writer from Windsor, CT based in western Massachusetts. In libraries, they love to add zines to the collection and run events about the many kinds of zines that may make their way into your local archive or library shelf. They love solo nights at the movie theater, spicy sweets, and reading historical gossip. Iris hopes to learn something new about printmaking this year. As an apprentice, Iris helps with events and learns about the many potential uses of zines for community organizing.
Founded in 2016, Magik Press began as Aly’s dream of a micro-press and arts studio where art, community, and organizing blend as one. As time has passed, this vision has continued to flourish. Tyasha/Ty came onboard early 2024, bringing radical social art for liberation. Thus, our dream to finally build a community by and for artists was realized with the creation of Magik Press Cooperative.
While we remain dedicated to our roots as a micro-press and arts studio, we have grown to include expanded design services, arts practices, and community workshops featuring the years of creative expertise of both our founders. Committed to sustainability and collective care, we strive to create a nurturing environment that supports both artists and the wider community.
Today, Magik Press stands as a testament to the power of cooperation centering art and liberation. Join us as we continue to celebrate the magik and strength of collective creativity.
