New London, CT—Join us for an unforgettable day of art, activism, and community as Break The System: A Radical Archive takes over Downtown New London for an exclusive, pop-up art installation! This one-day event will showcase limited edition zines, prints, and protest ephemera, providing a platform for radical creativity and resistance.

On Saturday, October 26th, Break the System will be hosted at 81 State Street from 12 PM to 7 PM, featuring a jam-packed schedule of activities designed to engage, inspire, and empower. This is a free and accessible event for all ages, with a wide array of offerings to explore throughout the day:
Break the System—the debut of a powerful protest art exhibit with zines, prints, and more, centered on themes of liberation, systemic oppression, and collective action.
Outdoor Zine Library + Sitting Room—browse zines from local artists and activists from the past while relaxing in the open-air zine lounge.
Vinyl Record Listening Party—groove to the sounds of DJ Lord Lewis the Velvet Knight as you flip through radical reads.
Sliding Scale Zine + Bake Sale—featuring Magik Press, Xochitl Garcia, and other local creators, offering items at Pay-What-You-Can prices. All proceeds will support ongoing mutual aid efforts.
Free4ALL Mutual Aid Distro by CT Grapevine—come pick up local art, vintage clothes, household goods, art supplies, homemade canned preserves, and more—all for FREE!
Halloween Treats + Mask Making—fun and festive activities for all ages, with vegan and gluten-free options available.
In the evening, the celebration continues with music and art at Magik Press Studios, located in the Secret Stairwell, starting around 8 PM.
This is more than an art show—it's a protest experience, a community gathering, and a space for collective liberation. Whether you're there to explore the outdoor zine library, grab some free mutual aid goods, or enjoy the vinyl DJ set, there's something for everyone.

About Break the System:
Break the System is a radical archive made up of zines, posters, and other protest ephemera spanning the 1970s to present. Brought to you by Tyasha/ Ty + collaborators of Magik Press, it debuts as a pop-up exhibit on October 26th in New London, CT. Break the System is a protest against the lack of available housing and arts spaces in our cities while countless abandoned properties remain wasted. The project calls attention to this imbalance and the urgent need for change.
In addition to the in-person exhibit, a website housing the digital collection will launch on the same day. This online archive serves as a resource for artists, organizers, educators, and activists fighting for collective liberation from systemic oppression.
